Inspired by the bowtie that brought Pookie & Shannon together and Nala's humble beginnings in a rescue, the #showthebow movement aims to raise awareness about pet adoption and the great work rescues do!
Here’s more about how Pookie & Shannon met and that very special bowtie that inspired a movement.
In 2012, Love, Nala co-founder Shannon was down to her last dollar. As a single foster Mom, she had to figure out a way to financially support her recently adopted biological nieces.
“All she needed was a $10 idea,” she thought.
She turned to YouTube for inspiration, bought a sewing machine the next day and launched an Etsy store a week later. For motivation, Shannon wrote $100,000 on a dollar bill and taped it to the wall in her bedroom. She was determined to create a better life for her nieces and herself.
Not long after that first order, Shannon met Pookie and Nala in-person, fell in love, and the rest is history.
Today, Varisiri "Pookie" Methachittiphan and Shannon live in Southern California, have made room in their hearts and their home for five more rescue cats and one dog and started the #showthebow movement as proud pet rescue parents to honor the very special rescue cat that brought their family together.
Adoption and rescue are so important to the Nala Family. They are forever grateful to Nala and to be in a position to support and help cats everywhere live healthier, happier lives.
